Diesel is today expensive up to 15 paisa, at a record level of Rs 69.46 in Delhi; Up to 14 paise in petrol
Diesel prices are on record level for the second consecutive day. In Delhi, diesel went down to Rs 69.46 per liter on Monday. On Sunday, the rate of one liter was 69.32 rupees. Prior to this, the highest rate was Rs 69.31 on May 29. Oil companies had consistently raised prices from May 14 to May 29.
On the other hand, petrol was hiked from 13 to 14 paise on Monday. Petrol in Delhi was Rs 77.91 and in Mumbai it was 85.33 rupees. Prices were increased for the second consecutive day.
Earlier, on August 25, there was no change in the prices of petrol and diesel. Oil companies fix petrol-diesel rates every day according to the prices in the international market. New prices are effective from 6 o'clock in the morning.

Petrol is also near record level: Petrol in Delhi is selling 77.91 rupees. On May 29 this record reached 78.43 rupees. After this, the rates were reduced for 14 consecutive days from May 30 to June 12. On May 29, petrol was 81.06 in Kolkata, 86.24 in Mumbai and 81.43 in Chennai.
Petrol and diesel will not be included in GST: Minister Piyush Goyal said on Tuesday that the GST Council meeting has not been discussed in the meeting so far because most of the states are not in favor of it. He said, I have not advocated to bring petroleum products within the purview of GST, but this statement came from Petroleum Minister. Goyal said that states need more funds for development works. So the state imposes more taxes on petroleum products.
Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said many times that the government is looking for a lasting solution. The steps involved in bringing gasoline and diesel under GST are also included. They deny every time by decreasing excise duty. The Central Government imposes 19.48 rupees on petrol and excise duty of Rs 15.33 per liter on diesel. Taxes of states are different.
