RBI will issue Rs 100 notes in new design, old notes will remain valid, change in ATM
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will soon issue a new bank note at the value of 100 rupees. The note issued in the series of Mahatma Gandhi will be in the new design and will be signed by Governor Urjit Patel. The color of the new note will be light purple and it will be reflected in the historic 'Rani Ki Vava' (Baawdi) of Gujarat which is included in the global heritage. However, even after the release of new notes the old notes will remain in circulation.
What is the size of the new note
The new note is smaller than the old 100's note in size and will be slightly larger than 10 notes. Its size is 66 mm × 142 mm. The Reserve Bank has said that the notes of old Rs 100 will also be legal tenders. When the notes are issued in a new design, its distribution increases and its distribution gradually increases to supply to the general public.
Printing of new notes started
The new design of the note was finalized in the same printing press of Mysore, where 2000 notes are printed. This time a major change has been made that indigenous ink and paper will be used in the printing of new notes.
Changes in ATM
Banks will have to make changes in their ATM's case train once more, so that 100 new notes can be kept. This will be the fourth opportunity after the arrival of the new government in the center in 2014, when the banks have to make changes to the ATM. Earlier it had to make changes for the new notes of 2000, 500 and 200.
