Worked on the railway for 44 years, took 20 minutes break, then the job went away.

In the UK, after taking a 20-minute break in duty, the Railways fired Peter Lee from the job. He was working in the railway for 44 years and at the time Sussex was a signalman at Arundel station in West. Railways have alleged that Peter went off the signal box at that time when there is a high degree of suspicion. This could jeopardize the lives of people.

Peter (60), who lives in Little Hampton, says that he had to shift more than six hours, therefore, according to the rules he was entitled to the break. But they were blamed wrongly. Now the railway union is on strike to get Peter back to his job.

The fight to break on the duty itself: Peter said that he was fighting a legal battle for eight years in relation to the break during duty. In 2015 they won the lawsuit. On 8th January when they arrived at duty, the roster was changed. There was no other employee present during his break. He informed his line manager to take a break. Also, three other staff present on the spot asked to take care of the signal, but they refused. On January 11, when he started to close the signal box, two managers came to the station and asked him to go home.

Peter got the sympathy of the people and found: Peter was first suspended until 18 May, and later he was fired from his job by accusing poor behavior. Chris Roadway, secretary of Sussex Coast Branch of the National Railway Union RMT, says that this incident is practically contradictory.

This is being discussed. During more than six hours duty, he is entitled to break. On the day of the incident a manager was able to take the responsibility of the signal. In spite of this, why was Peter harassed? It is being verified. However, the performance of the Railway Association is continuously on the issue of restoring Peter's job. More than 6300 people have signed on their petition so far.
